2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 98' tranny: trouble code help!!?

  • I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that has a 98' transmission. The trouble code I'm getting is p1762: Sensor input greater or less than calibration for 3 consecutive neutral/park occurrences. My jeep is not wanting to go above 30mph and is high RPMing at about 4000. It did this to me a few months ago and I replaced the speed sensor and it worked fine till now it's doing the same thing again. Has anyone ever had this trouble code? If so what was it. I know it is probably something inside the transmission. Any help/advice would be great, thanx.

  • Answer:

P1762 is governor pressure sensor offset volts high or low. The governor is in the transmission and it regulates the internal pressure for the shifting. It is an electromagnetic sensor that can get slug built up around it causing it to stick. I would recommend a bottle of Lucas trans. additive. This will clean those fine particles from around the sensor and allow it to work properly. I have seen the same type of problem with lock up torque converter solenoids and Lucas worked for that problem. Hope this helps and good luck. Christopher
