What oil should I use in my 2006 Sea-Doo RXP?

I recently got a ATF flush done on my 2006 Honda civic from Firestone. Is that ok or shd i use Honda Oil? Thx?

  • I recently got a ATF flush done on my 2006 Honda civic from Firestone. Those guys use their own oil that they say is ok to use in most cars. Honda dealers, on the other hand, say that use ONLY the Honda recommended oil, which is far more expensive from the dealer ($160 for Firestone vs. $240 for the Honda dealer). Should I stick with the Firestone guys to go back to the dealer and get the ATF again? Thanks.

    must use the honda trans fluid if not will give trans a harsh shift and possible chatter on shifts

Yes you should definitely spend the extra to get Genuine Honda ATF like the tranny man said if you use dexron with an additive, which I'm sure Firestone used, It can and will cause erratic, harsh shifting. Good luck and hope this helps.

first thing honda dont make oil or transmission fluid iam sure the guys at firestone used the recomended type of fluid for your car if you look in your owners manual it will say what type of fluid is recomended that is a type not a brand name

Well I always stick with what the factory recommends. The engineers suggest this for a reason. Ask at Firestone how this compares to the oil from Honda. Overall a new transmission will cost far more then saving the $80 now.

Anything but honda genuine atf will burn up a honda transmission. I would recommend going to honda and getting it done. Would you rather spend a extra $100 or spend $2-3k having it rebuilt

Why don't you buy the ATF from the dealer and have Firestone change it. That way you save money. It is very simple to change anyways.
