Is the honda prelude and the honda accord suspension the same?

Honda Prelude and Accord?

  • Can you use a Honda Accord motor in a Prelude? Or a Civic motor in a Prelude? How do you know if it'll fit? I need a motor for a 1991 Honda Prelude 2.05 SI. Can someone help me out? I can't find one ANYWHERE.

  • Answer:

you have the crap motor of the two good options of that year. the b21 (2.05L) is the first FRM block, and as my techs at the dealership say..."those cars smoked when they came off the boat....and they never stopped." your best bet is to look for an 88-91 2.0Si motor to replace yours. 2 liter, fuel injected, DOHC, regular cylinder walls, rings that actually do their jobs. you can swap the H22/H23 into the chassis.....but it's not a drop in kind of deal. check out 1funryd on preludepower and preludeonline...he's the 3rd gen H-swap guru of the interwebnet.

You can always make it fit, if you know welding.Add to frame, or alter. Probably fit closer in accord than civic. Main element here would be alignment with transmission. Was the prelude rear wheel drive and accord/civic front wheel drive? then you have an issue. no time to do your search for you. have fun. Thought you wanted reverse, prelude into other, you can find a prelude, have patience keep looking. You should be able to buy a preowned prelude car, rebuild the engine if you want and use the better chassis. a 91, won't be that much money now. Do a search on ebay for the car and the motor, set search for email notifications whenever someone posts one.

You can use an accord motor(as long as its 2.05 liter or bigger) in a prelude but you cant use a civic motor in a prelude. That is because you cannot put a motor that is smaller than what came in stock of the car. Basically, what im trying to say is that you cant put in a b16 si motor into a h22 prelude because the si motor is smaller than the h22 motor. You can always go bigger, but never smaller because in some states it's illegal. Any motor will fit any car, as long as you know how to do it.

actually, the 91 si prelude came with a b20 motor, not a h22 like he said above me. BUT you would still be replacing a larger engine with a smaller one. if you wanted to rebuild the b20 that came stock in your car, that'd almost be as easy as getting a whole new engine & swapping it.
