Honda 2000 Accord won't start.

My 2000 honda accord LX coupe doesn't start when its hot!?

  • So each time it's hot outside, or the car had been in the sun for a while, it won't start. If i leave it overnight, or put it in the shade for a while it starts fine. This never happens when i start it in the morning, I assume since it had been cool during the night. Any input??

get the car checked by a pro ..Seriously i cant think of anything that would be sensitive to temperature .. heats up while the car is Parked?.duuuh sunlight has no bearing here The ECM is under the dash . but ive seen them heat up and quit working till they cool off but you got me ...

It sounds like it may be the selinoid. They're very succeptible to heat and other things like water. Take it to a mechanic and have him look at it. There may have been a peice of heat sheilding that got torn off of its casing and its allowing the selinoid to get to hot.

I've had the same problem, but it is only occasional. I think its the fuel pressure regulator....Try taking the gas cap off and trying to start it...

I would take it to the dealer, it's possible this is a known issue and may be covered under a recall and not cost you anything. You may could ask for an estimate. I would check the age of the battery first - usually a sticker on it with a letter and number - letter is month and number is year.

Sounds like "vapor lock" being it only occurs with a heat source. You would need to go through the fuel system for the problem. If you're not mechanically inclined I would not attempt it as you won't know what to do or what you're looking at. Best to take it to your mechanic.

Could be that your engine is not getting sufficient Coolant thru the waterpump to cool it down. Your not using water in replacement of coolant for your car are you? If its not that, its an electrical problem.

You may have a bad battery, or one that is on its last leg. Or, it may be a spark plug wire in contact with a hot part of the engine.
