What art supplies should I buy for drawing anime?

  • I enjoy drawing and I want to know what art supplies I should be using. I mostly draw anime style but I also enjoy drawing other ways too. I've been using a program on the computer to color and refine my drawings but without a drawing tablet it's rather tedious. Our printer is also broken so I can't scan my drawings. I want to to know what type I should buy for: -Pencils -Erasers -Markers -Pencil Crayons -Sketch Pad It'd be also be nice if they weren't crazy expensive. Although, I can just work for the money...

    With pencils it kind of depends, if you would prefer a lighter thinner line just get some generic 2/3H pencils but if you prefer a darker thicker line (probably better for anime) get some 2/3B. Erasers- you should definitely get a putty rubber and maybe a few specialist ink rubbers and maybe one of those Artgum erasers which are so good they can be used for cleaning. Markers i would suggest those double sided fine/wedge nib pens though they do cost quite a lot, so maybe just get the basic colours or at least the black one. Pads i would just say to get one decent weight paper. Maybe a watercolour pad or Windsor and Newton do some affordable ones which are generally quite good quality. Good Luck. :D

My sister loves anime and comic art, she is in Uni doing an art course. She uses "putty" erasers (though i don't know what brand), putty erasers are soft and putty like, easily deformable. She also swears by Copic markers, but they are quite pricy, Copics come with 2 ends, a fat nib for fast shading, and a thin nib for the detail. there are other brands that do this, but my sister says Copic is the best
