Why does my Honda accord keep cutting out intermittently?

If your going to keep a 2006 Honda accord 4 cylinder for a long time is it better to put super Gas.?

  • I Read somewhere that super gas is healthier for the engine if your keeping the car for 10 -15 years, apparently when using regular gas after many years crap builds up in the engine . I have 79000 km in my honda accord 2006 and I mix from super to regular, is it better if I just put super sll the time, what is the truth behind this.

  • Answer:

What???? course not you drive a 4 cylinder not a v12 87 octane is more than enough to power the engine. High octane ratings is for sports cars or for cars with powerful engines. So no crap wont build in the engine you can add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner a few times a year to keep the gunk out.

You are wasting money mixing. The only time you would use high octane gas is in a high compression performance engine, which the accord motor is not. Use 87 (regular), any higher will make no difference whatsoever except cost more.

If you want it to last a long time,USE SYNTHETIC OIL! Using expensive fuel doesn't do anything but use up your money faster.Your car was designed to run on Regular Unleaded.(Its in the owners manual)

No, it's just a waste of money. If you want to keep your car a long time just make sure you change your oil every 5000 km
