Can u build a 00 honda civic engine?

  • im about to get a 00 honda civic and i was wondering what i would have to do to make it faster. well more like i want to know if its safe to put in a turbo or centrifugal supercharger. and if the engine will be able to handle major upgrades. or if i should rebuild the engine with performance parts first then get big stuff idk...bassicaly just tell me if the engine can be built up or if itd be better off left alone i guess lol....if u have any other engine suggestions that i can build up if i cant build the one in it please tell me.. thnx

    First off LS1 make about 500 na or spray or boost and crack the block seen it tons of times in street races. But yes you can build a simple turbo block and make sick power I dont understand why people post in the Honda section what out even knowing. Bisimoto made 700whp on pump gas built block and meth injectors to keep tempatures cool a build like that cost a lot. So back to the point a Short block built is abut $1700-2000,that includes pistion rods and all labor or if you do it yourself the bottom end kit is $600. A new cam and cam gear with valve train thats about another $900 a good turbo system and runs about $2500 tuning and injetors another $700. But the power it puts down about 350-400whp on race gas. My friends have similar builds one is a delsol both motors are D16Z6 EX/Si motors from 92-95 Civic and del sols. My friend del sol on race gas runs 11.5-11.7 on radials my friends SI hatchback runs similar his build is more details but hes still shaking down the car.

anything you do to make a vehicle faster then what was manufacturer specs will significantly lower the engine life of your vehicle like say average millage on a car before it dies is say 250,000 miles throw a turbo an that stock motor you just cut it to around 100,000-150,000 miles unless you do a significant amount of work to the motor and put all high Performance parts which could cost up to around $10,000-$20,000 it will significantly lower the life expectancy of your engine i would recommend just doing an engine swap for like an ls1 or ls5 motor with a turbo trans ( something that's already designed for being able to have a turbo/ super charger on it)

you can build the engine with performance parts and you can choose not too it all depends on the power ur looking for you can put a turbo on with small amount of boost on stock motor performance motor you can add more boost from the turbo or else u will blow ur motor if you try to put alot of boost on a stock motor and your gonna be looking at fuel delivery system ecu the whole 9 yards if you want it really fast

Honda engines are not good of turbo/sc applications, mainly because their high compression, you are much better building the engine from 0 if you want forced induction. Depends. I'm not sure which Honda motor you're referring to. Please include the trim of your car to give me a better idea of what you have and also if it's an auto or manual trans.
