Is a 1.8T a good car?

If a car pass state safety inspection less than 2 months ago. Does that mean the car is good? HONDA CIVIC 02?

  • If a car pass state safety inspection less than 2 months ago. Does that mean the car is good? If a car pass state safety inspection less than 2 months ago. Does that mean the car is good? The reason I am asking this is cuz I am looking to buy this used honda civic 2002 ex coupe. The seller doesnt have plate on his car so we can test drive in highway. He told me if transmissioni is wat you worry about i just did the inspection less than 2 month ago (saying that they put the car on a machine and get the car up to its highest speed then go down, which should test the transmission) and the carfax for the car is clean. I also heard a few people saying (on the web/forum) that the 2002 honda civic have transmission failure and there was no recall. So I want know if the car is good since the seller pass the safety inspection. thanks

  • Answer:

if you are considering buying the car then invest the $100 or so to have a mechanic do a through vehicle inspection before you buy it. Thats the only way to know what you're getting the Civic never really had any product problems with the transmissions. honda did have an extended warranty on the 1999-2001 accords and odyssey transmissions but not the Civic as that is an entirely different transmission. spend the money to get it inspected if you are serious about buying it. it can save you a lot if the car does have problems--you can say no at that point hope that helps

Yes, and it means you do not need another inspection for 10 months. It needs one every year. Recall means they fixed the problem and if it happens again, they fix it for free. Nothing is more reliable than a Honda Civic, except a Honda Accord, which holds the title for most reliable car in the world.

You can pay some shady mechanics to pass your cars inspection even if it would have normally failed the inspection. So just cause it was inspected doesnt really mean much now-a-days. Your biggest concern should be that alot af states are changing the laws for inspections. It just changed in my state - Rhode Island. Now whenever you buy a used car it must be inspected before they will register it. So even if the previous owner had it inspected the week before i bought it, i would still have to get it re-inspected. Your best bet would be to bring it to a local trust-worthy mechanic, and have him go thought the whole car and make sure there are no surprises...
