2005 honda accord ex v6 SRS code 71-10?

  • does anyone know where i can find out what the SRS code 71-10 is for my honda accord? The symbol that is showing up on my dash is a red picture of a man with a seatbelt and an airbag infont of him. Honda wants to charge $105 just to get the code for me. I have a friend who has a device and he got the code which is 71-10 and he cleared the code, but it came right back on.

  • Answer:

The seats in your "2005 Honda Accord EX," have a "Weight Sensor." You friend's "OBD Scanner" indicates a "Code SRS 71-10," this code normally has to do with some kind of "Circuit Failure," with the "Air Bag System," also indicating something can be wrong with the "Seat Position Sensor." Have you recently loaded your car with very heavy items, because if you have, this may cause a "SRS 71-10," to appear. You stated that your friend "Cleared" the code with his "OBD Scanner," but it re-appeared. The only way I know how to clear the code is by doing it "Manually," by jumping the "MES Connector." Maybe your friend, can follow a set of simple instructions, on "How to Clear SRS Codes Without The Scan Tool." For the step by step procedure on how to clear the "SRS 71-10 Code," Click On The Link," below. If after he has cleared and re-set the codes, the condition continues, than it's a "Bad Seat Position Sensor," or something to do with the "Air Bag - SRS Computer," which is located in the center console of your vehicle. Good Luck !
