2008 Honda civic si aftermarket turbo problem?

  • When i started my car this morning my turbo seems to have a problem. Whenever it starts to spool up, all the air it sucked in, goes right out the blow off valve while my foot is still on the gas, and the vaccum needle goes into position as if the car was off. I got on the freeway and floored it, hoping it would kick in again, but all I heard was all the air coming out of the Blow off valve again! My car is acting like its stock I dont feel the power of the turbo anymore? Whats going on?

  • Answer:

Sounds like the blow-off valve has failed. There are two basic kinds of valves: Spring loaded and remote controlled. Yours sounds like a spring loaded valve, where the boost pressure pushes against the spring loaded valve. When the boost is stronger then the spring, the valve opens and dumps the excess air. You should be able to take the top off the valve and check the spring, it might have broken or gone soft from all the hot-cold cycles.
