Is a tight steering wheel normal on 2001 Honda Accord?

Honda CRV 2001 Steering Wheel Making Squeaky Sound?

  • Hi, I have a 2001 Honda CRV…for some reason the steering wheel is making this really weird squeaky sound, is that a bad sign? I just got an oil change about two weeks ago and I don’t suspect it has anything to do with the fluid, unless the guy who did the oil change screwed something up. There's this red Maintenance sign on my dashboard, I'm suspecting that's why the steering wheel is making that sound...I haven't heard that until the Red button showed up.

  • Answer:

Is the noise coming from the steering wheel itself or does the noise come from somewhere else when you turn the steering wheel? The reason I ask is if it is a AWD CRV then there is a very common noise that can occur if the rear differential fluid has not been changed. Also the red :maintnence light is designed to come on every 7,500 miles and is not designed to moniter or indicate any problems. If the computer detects any problem the MIL(Yellow Engine) light will come on.
