Clutch makes a clicking sound.?

  • I have a 2001 Honda Civic Lx Coupe. I notice after I step on the clutch a little it makes a click sound, if I press a little harder I hear another clicking sound. What is this sound and is this normal?

  • Answer:

might be the pilot bearing giving out.

If that is a stick shift, and I assume it is, you need a new clutch plate. It starts clicking, meaning it's worn out long before it actually fails, but it is metal to metal and the longer you wait, the more damage it will do.

If the clutch is worn out, you wouldn't be driving it still, some clutch pedals have plastic self adjusters on them, my Ranger has a rubber boot around the linkage shaft and I can hear the air squeeze out of it when I push the clutch.......yours is front wheel drive might have a cable hooked to the pedal...

the bushings that hold your clutch pedal is bad. comon thing on the civics. it is not the clutch itselft but the clutch pedal. you can get the bushings and fix the problem.
