K&N FIPK Short ram or Injen Is series? I am shopping for my '00 Civic Si...cant make up my mind.?

From my research, it would appear that the Injen intake system offers slightly better performance and looks alot cooler under the hood. BUT the Injen system is also made of Aluminum, where-as the K&N is made of some weird nylon polymer or something. I know it isn't that much of a temp difference, (seeing as the Injen still provides more horses), but I am thinking more in terms of engine preserverance. Which reminds me, please, OH PLEASE, don't tell me to get a cold air, I would love to but I live in a rainy area and I don't want to have to worry about waterlocking my engine. Any input appreciated, and thank you in advance. P.S.- I know I can use the Injen with a heat shield, but that is more money than I would like to spend at this time.

Answer:
I sold both K&N and Injen for years. I would reccomend the injen by far over K&N. Overall they usually use bigger tubing than K&N does and they do a little more research on the cars they actually make intake for! Its good to see you did your homework on the cold air. I have known of many people hydro locking ther motor with them. Good luck!

ok by far the injen will get you alittle more horses. BUT i would get the injen over the K&N and get a K&N filter to get alittle more performance due to an even better air flow then with the injen air filter. also it is good that you did your research on the cold air intake system. alot of people dont really do it but if you notice the cold air intake system are 2 piece sytem. you would be better off getting a cold air intake system alot better performance and get an air bypass value for it. what it is another filter between the 2 pieces its got a thicker cloth so that it doesnt suck in while the air is sucked in at the bottom but when there is more pressure at the main intake filter. it will suck from the bypass so you dont hydro lock your engine. its a $40 item but it helps alot because it allows you to run a cold air intake without worry of hydro locking. http://www.doctorimport.com/aem_air_bypass_valve.html and if you think it doesnt work let me tell you how i tested mine. i got a cold air intake for my hatchback. i slammed the car to a 4" drop. i parked it where the air filter was in a puddle about half the filter was submerged and revved it alittle took it off and it was all wet inside the intake. i put on the bypass. revved it alittle in the puddle and intake was dry. put it back on revved it and redlined it in the puddle and still intake was fully dry inside. i mean thats just another option you can take incase your interested. its really worth the $40 prolly even worth alot more if you consider the fact that you can get more performance out of your car with a Cold air intake and you dont worry about getting your engine replaced.

use either one...its gonna make so little difference youll never notice anyway.these things make like 1.5hp at 6500rpms.big waste of money.

I love my K&N intake. I have installed one on my 98 bmw 328is, and my girlfriends 03 eclipse. In both cars, there is a slightly noticeable diffference. Remember, intakes only add HP at the redline, I think you'd be better off having your ECU remapped. Type Speed Tuning USA into google. I bought their product, and I gained 27 hp, and 23 ft lbs of torque by remapping my ecu. You should check them out, Oliver is extremely helpful and knowledgable.
