Is it true that honda civics are easy to break into?
-
So me and my friends where at my cousins house and his mom was by'tchin and stuff and said we could not use my cousins car and we had to stay at the house. So then right after she left she took the honda civic car keys with her then my cousin Took out Something simliar to a screwdiver Opened the Window the Alarm did not go off and then he just sticked the screwdriver inside where you put the keys then we drove off. The car model was I think 2004. Are Honda civics serouisly that easy to break into?

I'm calling Troll on this one. The car had already been stolen -- and it wasn't a 2004 model but a 2000 or older. Newer ones won't start without the transponder key paired to the car in the ignition lock so even popping the cylinder with a dent puller won't let you start it.

That had already been broken into and stolen before. There is no other reason for the switch being broken out, allowing the ignition cylinder to be turned by a screwdriver. All Civics 2001 and later require a transponder key, so the year had to be 2000 or earlier.

Yeah unfortunately they are. you dont even need a screwdriver to turn it on. I started a friends with my HOUSE key and drove off as a prank.

Yes but I have not a goddamn idea why anyone would want to steal one of those things. Steal a rare or valuable car. Stealing a Honda is like stealing a vacuum cleaner.

Reminds me of alot of the 90's Chrysler models. They could be had with a screwdriver, too.

tehy get harder to break into every year. however it was his car, so im sure he knew a bit more about it then the avg person. besides if someone wants to steal your car, no matter what it is, they can get it... and to the guy who said he doesnt understand why ppl steal them. they take them to chop shops and strip them down and sell the parts. theres a huge market for those parts since so many of them are on the road. besides if you were to steal a porsche, it would be kind of hard to sell the parts. its not like theres one on every corner, besides, if your driving a prosche, you probably wont be looking for cheap used parts... people dont steaql cars for the car, they steal them for the parts
