What's the difference between electric cars and hybrid cars?

Whats the difference between these cars?

  • I'm a 17yr old guy who really wants a honda civic si but my parents want me to get an automatic. Is there a huge difference between the si and the regular civic dx or lx? Like I know hp difference and interior is different and stuff but what about the exhaust noise and do both have vtec engines?

  • Answer:

There is a huge difference in the driving experience. They sound about the same until 5500rpm. From 5500rpm to 8000rpm, the Si's 1.6 DOHC VTEC sounds like a swarm of angry bees when the hot cam (that the other models don't have) is engaged. Especially if you remove the stock intake and use an aftermarket cone-type filter. The non Si models aren't nearly as quick either, especially the automatic versions. If I were you I'd either talk your parents into you getting the Si or I'd shop for something other than a Civic because you won't be happy with the performance and sound of the non-Si models if you're after that sort of thing. No fart-can exhaust on earth can make the non-Si models sound like or be as fun as the Si model.

Pretty noticeable differences but you have to look at more than that. The insurance on the Si is probably going to be higher than the other trims. As much as it would be cooler/nicer to have an Si, you're more likely to stay out of trouble with an LX/EX. You WILL get pressured/tempted into racing with the Si and I'm sure this is what your parents are more concerned about. In the past, the engines in the DXs were not VTEC and had a lot less power than the other trims. I'd avoid a DX simply for the lack of power.

Huge difference in terms of power, some differences in terms of handling and it will be more expensive to insure. If I was your father (and note I have a son and daughter), I would totally veto you getting the Civic SI. The insurance cost alone makes the SI a terrible idea.

exhaust noise on a automatic honda just dont sound right. you can hear it shift very very slow. it willnot sound sporty at all.
