Why do some people hate on Honda Civics?

Because the typical person you see driving a civic is a sixteen year old kid with the hub caps ripped off and a huge exhaust on the back. I agree that civics are hated on. Im eighteen and have a 2001 civic and i love it. The only thing that i have done to it was re paint it a nice red and replace the rims with some better ones that arent too flashy. Its a very very very realiable car and it looks good too. and civics lately are becoming more powerful, reliable, and have some very high quality materials put into it, and then you can get the Si version which is pretty great too, and then the type r, there are so many stupid reasons why civics stink, but they dont. they beat the corolla, the chevy cobalt and pretty much any other compact car out there, theyre stylish and could be fitted with stuff youd see in a mercedes. Its a good car for a good price and thats all there is to it. Teenagers have just ruined the civic name.

I hate them because of the riced out mods attempting to make a "race car"..... No matter what you do to make it faster in the end you put more money into them than you would have if you had saved up and bought a real sports cars plus a civic is front wheel drive... plus the fart exhaust note along with sub woofers really get to me. But besides that i dont hate the rest of the normal ones. But i will tell you this most people who drive a civic are people who dont know much about engines, how cars work, and maintenance... They buy the car because like you said the history/reviews they read. But bottom line the civic stoped being a "best buy" around the 90s . Now the civics are overpriced and overated, honestly the brand history is the selling point. But if you understand what those econo cars really are under the hood and compare to others along with the price youll see what i mean. To the poster who said its better than toyota and gms quality ... really? Gm Ford and Toyota make way better quality and performance, not just outdated underpowered point a to b car. To the poster who said honduh pionered vtech they are wrong toyota was the first company to use variable valve technology in the celica, and you can make any car fast not just a civic but rember its still front wheel drive that ends up blowing up after droping all that cash....

I have the real answer. Stupid people rice them out. I own a civic to. I use it as car. Cheap to fix, good gas mileage, look decent, and fun to drive around town in. But, I hate people who try to max out horsepower in them. Because, a front wheel drive car with 300hp is stupid. You will destroy the car you're racing in a drag race because, that amount of power and torque will jerk you right in them amd destroy them. I think a performance car needs to be rwd, awd. The lancer evo for example. Stupid kids think lancers are fast. Wrong they are slow as smell. A Lancer Evo is a different story It's awd, turbocharged, and was built to race. A lancer is just a a civic something you drive. It starts when you want it to and gets you from point a to b. Pimping them is dumb. That's why people don't like them. It the image punks gave them, If saw you driving yours I would just say hey that person just want something reliable. A pimped one I look at and say gay!

A few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. They're an affordable car, and are often a first car for racing/upgrades because they're cheap and light. Several of the people that do these upgrades and activities tend to drive like idiots, or stick a 4" exhaust on the back, or paint them bright yellow with flames. And yes, they're a good, reliable car as long as you take care of it. If its mistreated, than you'll spend more time under it that in it.

I'm a civic Defender. I am the anti-rice. I hate people who hate on Civics. Basically most people think that all Civics are Ricers if You mod them. And yes, there are many out there that are Ricers, but time and time again its proven that a civic is a Good FWD time Attack Racecar. You can talk **** about any car, but whats the difference between a dumbass with a civic and a Fart can, or a dumbass With a V6 Mustang and Cherry Bombs? I think though, that its because a civic can do just about anything. You can leave it alone and you have a 40MPG gas sipper or You can Throw good quality parts on it, Drop in one of many different Engines, and have an Extremely fast car...ie, A K24 Turbo civic pushing 500hp? Completely unnessacary, yes but do able. Also, I guess some people Hate civics and all hondas for Having V-tec. Im not gonna say its a god like invention But seeing as after honda Pioneered the Technology in the Civic and CRX and now pretty much every sports car made has it or a Variant of it might make some people hate on it. Oh and lastly, a good half of all people dont hate on Civics Cause they dislike the car, They just do it to be douchebags.

the reason they hate is the arrgant 16-25 year old guys that put loud exhausts on their car and think they have a race car when they're really all show no go. I have a 96 civic and i happen to be 18 lol but mine is all stock, so im not rippin on civics. They are great communting cars that get great gas milage and almost never break down. The main thing people are hating on is the fact that people try to take an economy car and turn it into something fast, but they do it the wrong way, they think by putting an intake, headers, and exhaust on there, they have a 10 second car, but what they really have is whats known in the world of cars as "rice".
