How much would a 2005 hybrid prius cost?

Which will save me more money in the long run? 2005 Accord or 2005 Prius?

  • The 2005 Accord will cost $12999 - 14999, the 2005 Prius costs $20900. I will be financing at a 5% rate. I am considering MPG, resale value etc. Should I just go for the Prius or is the Used Accord the smarter buy economically over the long run?

  • Answer:

Prius for sure. Prius resale values are through the roof right now. Fuel aint gonna get any cheaper, its just gonna keep rising. Go with the Prius man.

If the Prius uses alternative fuels, it might be the better buy, but in 2005 the technology was still new and there might be bugs in it. The Accord, on the other hand, is not only cheaper, but uses proven technology. I have a 1994 Accord and have replaced the exhaust system twice, the timing belt once, and the brakes once in 14 years. Oh, and the battery has been replaced and the tires. I expect my Accord to outlast me so I don't worry about resale value.

I would have to go with the Prius. Gasoline is so expensive, and the Prius has a great resell value.

the accords cheaper for now and the next few years but the prius is going to save you in the long run, keep in mind the prius is still one of the 1st "types" and hybrids will get better as time goes on. Esp in the next 2-4 years to work out the probelms bugs etc as ALL new autos have this problem

Don't listen to Will. He obviously is an idiot. the toyota hybrid batteries are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Everyone who has no experience in the car business tries to answer questions they have no business doing. I think the price is a little high on the prius...although you don't give us any info...how many miles? condition? what options? and etc. If it has low miles (as in 30K or so) go out and get it before they sell it and quit messin around on yahoo answers. If it has more miles, work on the price a little, but keep in mind, the prius is like gold right now w/ the gas prices. From your friendly Toyota Salesperson :)

What about when you need to replace the battery pack that Toyota didn't warranty then? That would also cost you around $5000 to replace. Buy the honda
