Honda cr-v won't start?

2001 honda crv wont start?

  • yesterday it had a quick tune up. plugs dis. cap, rotor button, fuel and air filter. the batter was bad so we had to jump it to est drive after the tune up. ran great, better than it has been for a while. this morning it would not start. tried to jump it again, now it is cranking but no fire. fuel makes it to the plugs, no spark when a screw driver is stuck in the plug wire and put near metal. figured it may be the new rotor button since it was a different style than the old one. so put back on the old button and cap after a good cleaning. still only cranks and no spark to the plugs. checked fuses under the hood and dash.. they all seem fine. changed the MAP sensor i think it was... located above the throtle body with wires that run directly to the distributor. still nothing, which was a bummer since it was $80. anyone got any ideas as what can be checked next? again.. no fire to the plug. engine cranks, will not fire. fuel is getting to plugs.. new battery, and MAP sensor.. all fuses look okay in the car and under the hood. ran fine yesterday, would not start this morning. thanks your your time

  • Answer:

how much miles put on your car? when doing your screw driver in wire test you try it on all 4 or just one?? well if all four show nothing then the ignitor module is probably burned out or failed. its a microchip unit located inside the distributor under the cap and button.. your car did run after the tune up and jumping it the first time so you probably have an ignitor failure especially in high mileage. have your charging system tested/checked and/or battery replaced, as your vehicles electrical system may have had the effect on it. you shouldn't be needing to jump the battery all the time. sometimes an accessory(such as stereo system or even alarms) may have grounding issues and could cause other electronics to fail along the entire wire harness sytem, or charging failure, resulting bad battery.
