2008 Honda Civic si aftermarket turbo and trans problem?
-
When i started my car this morning my turbo seems to have a problem. Whenever it starts to spool up i can feel like a time of half sec of it pulling, then all the air it sucked in, goes right out the blow off valve while my foot is still on the gas, and the vaccum needle goes into position as if the car was off. I got on the freeway and floored it, hoping it would kick in again, but all I heard was all the air coming out of the Blow off valve again! My car is acting like its stock I dont feel the power of the turbo anymore? Whats going on? Also i have another problem with my tranny when i try to go shift from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th when i let out the clutch and press the gas it just revs and then goes into gear about 3 sec later after i have already shifted. Do you think its my transmission? I have 29000 miles? PS. Its not to much pressure in the engine, its only 6 lbs of boost

Answer:
Well lets put it this way... I too am a 2008 Si Owner, I will tell you that as much as you will not want to, the best thing for you to do is to take the damn turbo off... The V-Tec itself is there to compensate for the turbo charger that other vehicles like the WRX and Evolution. You need to first and foremost realize that the Honda Civic Si is designed by Honda to provide the quickest and safest fun you can get stock. When you start putting "AFTER MARKET PARTS" on a car, you are liable to get into some trouble. I too am a car junkie and love feeling the power of a car. But cars come in different classes to begin with. You are looking to turn an Si into an Evolution destroyer and you should not be. The Evolution is an ALL WHEEL DRIVE car made to be quick off of the line and hop in front of every one. The Honda Civic Si is intended to be reasonably quick off the line but take over in the distance. It is also a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE car. You need to realize the difference between the two. All what are known as "TUNER" cars are not the same, yet people like to try to make them the same. Your transmission... Since you have put on a turbo, you should already know that you need a special stage clutch. If your clutch is stock still, congratulations your cars transmission is not tuned to your turbo, therefore you will find yourself slipping, dropping, and grinding. No matter how much you spent on the turbo and will miss the power, YOU NEED TO TAKE IT OFF... If the engine was built for one, it would have come with that. The pistons in the Si are so thin and light that you can blow one very easy even at 6psi. This is the reason you can get 8K out of the motor. Take it off or risk the engine and the transmission. Risk your investment.
