Is a tight steering wheel normal on 2001 Honda Accord?

How to remove steering wheel from 1991 Honda Accord?

  • I bought a new factory steering wheel for my 1991 Honda Accord. because the old one was very flimsy. I want to replace the old with new, but can't figure out how to get the old steering wheel off. I see there is a 3/4" self-locking bolt in the center behind the H emblem, but I can't get it to move. If I try to loosen it the whole steering wheel turns with it. Short of taking the whole steering wheel apart, is this the way to get it off? Also, what steps are involved in putting the new one on?

  • Answer:

you need an impact to take it off. once you take the nut off put it back on a couple of threads then you have to pull really hard a couple of times. the nut will keep it from hitting you in the teeth. or you can buy a steering wheel puller but it is not nessisary
