GMC Sierra SLE 2003 Drivers Side Is 3/4 Of An Inch Lower Then The Passengers Side, Also Have A Bouncing Effect?

  • Truck Description GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 4.8 20" Eagle Alloy Wheels Front Tires 275/45R20 - In Good Shape Rear Tires 280/50R20 - In Good Shape KYB High Performance Shock Absorbers - NEW Coil Springs - NEW No Accident History The truck is 3/4 of an inch lower on the drivers side then the passenger side. Ive been also getting a bouncing effect that i believe is coming from my rear drivers side bed. Before i had the front shocks and coil springs replaced, the truck felt like i had no suspension at all and so i purchased KYB Shock Absorbers and a pair of front Coil Springs thinking it would solve my drivers side sag, i also had all four tires balanced "not that it would matter just needed to get them done :)". It was a big improvement the road was a lot smoother. with the new parts installed the truck was a 1/2 inch higher all around but i still have the drivers side 3/4 of an inch lower then the passenger side. my happiness was really cut short when i started to feel this vibrating to what it felt like bouncing sensation. the vibrating sensation comes at around 25 to 35 mph the bouncing sensation comes at around 40 to 45 and 55 to 65+ mph which again i feel as if its coming from my rear drivers side bed. I cant seem to figure out what else could be wrong with the truck any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had new coil springs installed in my 1987 GMC Sierra, they told me that the springs will work themselves in a bit after they're installed, so the ride height may settle 1/2 an inch or so. 3/4 of an inch is not a lot when it comes to trucks ride heights, mine sits about 1/2" lower on the drivers side. Keep in mind that the fuel tank will have an effect on this, also truck frames twist a lot more than you think, so if it's not on perfectly level ground, it may seem a little more off. As far as the vibrating and bouncing, make sure a wheel weight that they installed didn't come off, and make sure they torqued down the rims properly. If it is not either of these, it is possible, that the vibrating and bouncing could be from, a loose shock mount, a missing shackle on the leaf springs, or (this happened to me) a loose box. Basically, crawl under the truck, and check for anything that could be loose, using your foot to kick the tire while your under there may also help reveal loose parts. Sorry for the long answer, but there are a lot of possibilities, and these are by no means all of them. You can also check the drivers side rear leaf springs for cracks, look above the rear axle (where the leaf springs sit on their perch) between the U-bolts that hold the spring pack together, look for cracks running vertical, you may have to clean them off with a wire brush to see, but if there's a crack you'll see it.
