Anyone know how reliable 2006 Saturn Ions Are?

Saturn's are good cars to own ,they are good on gas and cheap to maintain,i have a friend that has two of them and that's all he will drive,they are reliable cars,you,ll hear some people knock them,but they have proven to be good dependable cars, i have owned one myself and liked it,i never had any problems from it during the time i owned it,you should get real good service from it,good luck.

From expericance, id say if you want a Saturn, dont get an ion or l-series. They swapped in a GM sourced 2.2 dohc and ive seen quite a few problems with them. The original S-Series had a different sourced (i want to say Honda) 1.9 engine and were very reliable. If you want a Saturn, get a S-Series or a new Aura if you want reliability..just hope you dont have to swap an alternator! :-)

Used Saturns are no different that many others. It depends. I have a friend who's 2006 tranny went out in 30,000 miles. Anothers engine failed at 60,000 miles. I would get a CARFAX report. PAY someone who really knows Saturns to look at it. Talk to transmission shops, engine shops, and USED car dealers. Then go to a Physic or Crystal Ball reader person. Buying anything "used" is a crap shoot. For that matter, I have had brand new cars just stop in rush hour traffic with only 900 miles on it then need a new engine!
