Whats the difference between a CTS and a CTS-V?

  • I have a 2005 CTS with a 3.6L. The title said it is a CTS-V, however it isn't badged as a V. The VIN is DP567 for the options. What is different between a CTS and a CTS-V?

A 2005 CTS-V would have a 5.7L V8 and a 6 speed manual transmission. It would also have a diamond pattern chrome grille, chrome wheels and dual exhaust. You would have paid about $6,000-$8,000 more than what you probably did for your CTS with the 3.6. However, in 2005 the CTS-V only put out 400hp.

Rubin, The main difference is that the CTS-V has a bigger engine which puts our more horsepower. There are some exterior styling’s that are different as well. Thank you, Elizabeth, GM Customer Service

You may want to check with your insurance & make sure they also didnt classify it as a V, it will affect your car insurance greatly.
