Where is the voltage regulator in a gm safari 1990?
-
ok so my battery keeps dying and i got a new alternator from advanced and now they are saying its my voltage regulator where is it?
-
Answer:
GM hasn't had external voltage regulators since '72. If your vehicle sits awhile and you go to drive it and the battery is dead, either the battery is bad or you have a draw on the battery like a short or something is left on. Good Luck!

If you have an external voltage regulator then it may be attached to fender well under the hood. It's a small rectangle box with several wires attached on one side. If you have an internal voltage regulator then it is inside the alternator. Go to an auto parts store to double check. I couldn't find a photo for reference

Well the voltage regulator can be in 1 of 2 places in the alternator or in the PCM,
