I have a 99 pontiac sunfire and i need to know where the carberator is. Please help.?

I know nothing about cars. My husband is in Iraq and of course this happens to me know. The car ran out of gas and stopped on the highway. I put more gas in it but it still wouldn't do anything. I was told to put a little gas in the carberator but I have no idea where that is. Please help asap. Before it gets towed!

Answer:
It's right next to the Kuneutson valve. (this is what a Kuneutson valve looks like) http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=9&zenid=acdfaaeee79f6bb56910e17337c57da0 Now, since the car ran out of gas, you're going to want to replace the stock plug wires with something a little beefier. The car will require a better spark source from now on. Once you get it back on the road, make sure you take it to your local garage, and have the a round tuit checked. It might need to be balanced. If you're anything like me, I find it best to keep an stfuometer for certain passengers. Lastly, with high gas prices on everyone's mind, it's important to make sure you keep your tires inflated to the proper pressure. AAA estimates that millions of gallons of gas can be saved every year just by making sure your tires are properly inflated. **See the source listing for links to the specific products I mentioned **************************************… Ok so here's my serious answer. A 99 Sunfire doesn't have a carb. It's fuel injected. Whoever told you to pour gas in the carb is a moron for not knowing this to begin with. All you have to do is turn the key to the on position (without starting it), and let the gas pressure build up a little. The fuel pump will do this automatically for you, so don't worry about doing anything special. Turn the key to the on position, wait a couple of seconds, and then try and start it. It should fire right up. Remember, it's fuel injected, so pumping the pedal won't help either.

it is fuel injected. try getting some starter fluid and spraying it into the air intake. simply remove the aircleaner housing and filter. give a quick squirt into the tube running to the engine. are you sure you ran out of gas?

Isn't this why God said, "Let there be AAA?"

you shouldn't have a carburetor. it's fuel injection.

It would be odd for a 99 Sunfire to even have a carburetor. Isn't it fuel injected?

DONT listen to ANYONE It is more than likely youre carburator bearings, and if all of those are nice and lubed up then check youre MUFFLER bearings, just take your exhaust system apart and try again and if that doesnt work then try pouring some gasoline or WATER in with your oil that ALWAYS works for me.

First off Thank your husband for preserving the right for these folks to give you hard time. We ALL know if it weren't for our armed forces, none of these jokers would even be able to laugh at your expense. If you car died going down the road there's a good possibility that the fuel pump quit working. The feul in the tank cools the pump as it circulates. If you ran out, it may have over heated the pump. Have it towed to your shop and let them fix it. No magic fix, sorry. Semper Fi!

also, while it is at the shop, make sure they check the levels on your blinker fluid. could cause many problems and a possible moving violation if your blinker fluid is too low. also make sure your gizzefrator is in proper working condition. you will see it, it is bright yellow and on the passenger side of your carburator in that model. it has a flap on it that MUST open and close freely.
