Is a 1970 ford f250 a 4x4?

    It could be 2WD or a 4WD, they made both versions, the 2WD is more common though. Keep in mind that if it's a 4WD you'll have to change out both the front and rear end gears, effectively double the cost. Plan on spending $600 per axle to do this. It's not something you can do yourself either. You're dealing with tolerences measered in hundreths of an inch. Also you only get one shot at it. If you flub the install, the gears won't line up properly. And after only a few revolutions of the axle, they'll establish an improper pattern, and you'll have to buy a new ring and pinion set and try again. Chances are you would never save enough in fuel economy to offset the costs of re-gearing anyway. So it's probably best just to leave it as is. If you're concerned about fuel economy, you're getting the wrong vehicle. It could be a 2bbl or 4bbl. You'll have to check the specific truck.
