Where is the starter located on a 2001 ford ranger?

Better test the battery before you go fixing things that aren't broken based on a guess. You don't even know where it is, how can you even assume it's the problem? Load test the battery first and N O just because the lights come on and the radio works does not mean it is good. Run along EDIT If you can't find the starter I know you didn't check the battery properly. Have the battery tested by someone who knows what they are doing. Really!

It always helps to know what engine you have because all Ranger's don't have the same engines. that being said, assuming you have one of the V6s the starter is mounted on the bell housing of the engine, rear, lower right as seen from the driver's seat.
