Where does the Gt emblems go on my 95 mustang?

95 mustang gt problem?

  • i just bought a 95 mustang gt with 115000 miles on it. Everything runs well, it idles good most of the time. some times when i stop i have to keep pushing the gas to keep it going and when i let off it dies. it happens randomly. When this happens the gauges move back and fourth and the lights go dim then bright then dim then it dies. i am just wondering if anyone had a idea what this could be

  • Answer:

almost sounds like an alternator or the IAC valve. Test it with a multimeter or get professional opinion. It may even be a short. I would have to get more info.

it's the iac [idle air control] valve. don't waste the time, effort and imagination to clean it. that never works, get a new one, and don't forget the gasket [sold separately]

These cars are notorious for having a weird Idle air control valve. Can try to clean it up, and see if that fixes the problem.

It's most likely the idle air control (IAC) or throttle position sensor (TPS). The 94/95 Mustangs were notorious for what many call "hunting idle," the car seems to idle however it wants to at times, rather than how it SHOULD idle. The odd part is the dash/gauge thing. My 94 GT did have the "hunting idle" issue at one point, but nothing weird ever happened with the gauges or lighting. It almost sounds like you might have a bad alternator or battery, as when the car is sitting it's not getting as much of a charge as when you're actually driving...which could cause it to die at random when sitting at a stop light etc. If you have an Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone near you, you can take it to them and they will test your battery and alternator and can also use a scan tool on your car to help you diagnose your car's issues. All of that is free too, and can be really helpful in running down a problem, or at least getting a good start on the issue.

"Idle speed control sensor" or "mass air flow sensor"
