I have Ford Taurus starting problem.

Anyone with same problem 2007 Ford Taurus?

  • 2007 Ford Taurus. Fuse for windows, outside mirrors keeps blowing or not working. Dealership couldn't find problem. Said it could be a wire anywhere in the car which would cost a fortune to look for. Anyone have this problem and know what wire it was? Dealership said it could be because of the cold winter weather. Could that be the case?

You still under warranty? If so, it won't cost you a fortune...it may cost the dealer that! But it's their problem. Electrical problems can be a pain to search. Sounds like the dealer is attempting to avoid and/or doesn't have a strong mechanic in electronics. The mechanic likely doesn't want the job 'cause he's usually paid by the job, not the hours it actually takes him to do the job (i.e. book says job pays 1 hr labor; it take the guy 8 hours to fix; he just worked the whole day for 1 hrs pay!). If you haven't talked with the Service Manager, go to him. If he's no help, see your Salesperson. Try the Owner. You may need to complain to Ford's District/Regional Manager.

You should look in the owners manual and see if there is anything else that runs off of the fuse that does keep blowing, once you get that info then it should be fairly easy to pinpoint if its a short in one of the wires or connectors. The fuse will act just like a house breaker box, it will pop the fuse when there is a break in the line of electrical power before it will allow any other component burning out. Most repair shops charge a minimum of labor to inspect and find the culprit, usually 2-3 hours BUT 9 out of 10 times it doesn't take an experienced tech that long to find it and fix it.

when did your warranty expire? or should I say start. If you are within your 3yr 36k mile warranty it is covered. It is true it could be a wire concern. Also anyone of those motors can cause that concern, if they have high resistance. Does the fuse blow when you use a separate switch ex: rh, lh, rr, lr widow switch/motor or power mirrors?
