With that, first of all you spelled "aline" wrong...align...if it doesn't align, then you have the wrong starter, the teeth should line up...make sure the manufacturer didn't change anything in the middle of the model year...and the get the proper one...if that doesn't work then you bent a tooth on the crank....

This starter should have been supplied with shims. If not, you will have to purchase them separately. You can find them at any NAPA auto parts store. The other, and most common problem is missing teeth on the flywheel. Crawl under there and rotate the flywheel by using a pry bar. You may want to number and remove your spark plugs. This will make it much easier to rotate the engine from there. Just make sure you number your wires so you won't have other issues as well. You may end up replacing the flywheel. If that does not do it for you, "bench test" the starter. Sure, you may hear it rotate, or "turn on", but who's to say the re-builder replaced the Bendix, or "starter drive". Many re-builders' don't because it's not "cost effective". If you have a NAPA auto parts store near you, purchase a BECK ARNLEY starter. They may or may not stock them, but they are available in any NAPA warehouse in the country. They cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. Go to www.napaonline.com and browse the catalog.

standard starter on an automatic ,, I assume .. The noses are long on a automatic than they are on a standard.. change the starter end(nose) or change the starter ... The problem sounds like the flywheel may be busted or wrong starter/....
