I Just had Flowmaster installed on my Ford Ranger (V6 3.0), and I am NOT HAPPY with the sound quailty at ALL?

I heard I could run a Thrush Glass Pack in front running directly into my Flowmaster muffler and will sound OUTRAGEOUS!!!! ( Best of BOTH WORLDS they said!!!) Any thoughts before I do somethhing this week?? I need some MAJOR advice on this ONE PLEASE, from somebody that would know if it would make my V6 Ranger sound LOUDER or just ruin ALL that work, I have got done soooo far???? ALRIGHT DUDE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE SAYING THAT ITS A V6 AND U CAN NEVER MAKE IT SOUND LIKE A V8, WELL THEY ARE WRONG!!!!! I HAVE A 94 FORD RANGER V6 4.0. I USED TO HAVE THE THRUSH GLASS PACK ON THERE AND ITS NOT GONNA SOUND VERY LOUD AT ALL. SORRY, BUT IM JUST SPEAKING FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I WAS JUST LIKE U I WANTED THAT LOUD V8 SOUND. WELL WHAT I DID IS I UN-BOLTED MY WHOLE EXHAUST SYSTEM FROM MY TRUCK. I TOOK EVERYTHING OFF. ON MY RANGER I HAVBE 2 CATS (CATALYTIC CONVERTERS) FOLLOWED BY A MUFFLER. I TOOK ALL THREE OFF AND I PROMISE YOU THAT MY TRUCK SOUNDS LOUDER THAN MOST V8'S WITH AFTERMARKET EXHAUST. EVERYWHERE I GO I GET STARES AND I DO MEAN EVERYWHERE ITS OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD BUT I LOVE IT. AND ITS NOT GONNA SOUND LIKE ONE OF THOSE RICEBURNERS, OR LIKE A LITTLE WEEDEATER. ITS GONNA SOUND LIKE A REAL TRUCK. WHEN I DRIVE I ALWAYS HAVE PEOPLE TELL ME THEY CAN HEAE ME FROM BLOCKS AWAY. AND THEY HEAR WAY BEFORE THEY SEE ME. ITS GONNA SOUND LIKE A MONSTER. I PROMISE IF YOUR LOOKING FOR HOW TO GET YOUR FORD RANGER AT ITS LOUDEST THIS IS WHAT TO DO. I CONSTANTLY HAVE PEOPLE COMING UP AND ASKING HOW DID I GET MY FORD RANGER SO LOUD AND IS IT A V8. EVEN COPS ASK ME HOW ITS SO LOUD. ALL U HAVE TO DO IS UNBOLT BOTH CATS AND THE MUFFLER. THE REASON I SAY UNBOLT IT AND NOT CUT IT IS BECAUSE WHEN YOU TAKE IT OFF YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET YOUR INSPECTION LIKE THAT. SO MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR INSPECTION, THEN TAKE IT OFF, AND WHEN ITS TIME FOR YOUR NEXT INSPECTION A YEAR LATER JUST BOLT IT BACK ON. NO HARM DONE. ITS ONLY 3 BOLTS. AND FOR ANYONE ON HERE THAT SAYS THAT WILL MESS UP YOUR TRUCK THEY ARE WRONG. I HAVE HAD MY RANGER LIKE THIS FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE BIT OF TROUBLE. PEOPLE WILL ALSO TRY TO DISCOURAGE IT AND SAY NOT TO DO THIS BUT IT DOES NO HARM TO THE ENGINE. IF U WANT IT LOUD THIS IS HOW TO DO IT. MINE IS LIKE THIS AND I LOVE IT. IT SOUNDS SO POWERFULL. PLUS ITS FREE CUS U CAN DO IT YOURSELF. IM VERY SERIOUS ABOUT ALL THIS, I HOPE U DECIDE TO DO THIS AND I HOPE IT WORKS OUT GOOD, I PROMISE YOU WONT REGRET IT. AND BY THE WAY FLOWMASTER DOES SUCK. THATS MY OPINION. HOPE I DNT HURT NO ONES FEELINGS. HA HA.

I think your expectations were too high. If you were expecting it to sound like a V8 Mustang or V8 F-150 then of course you'll be disappointed. You have the Vulcan V6, it's reliable, but it's no screamer. It'll never sound like a V8 running straight pipes or Flowmasters no matter what you do. My advice is to get a Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 and call it good. It won't be really loud, but you won't be embarrassing yourself with a horrible sounding V6 either.

I had a 4.0L ranger with a glasspack, and it sounded like a pissed off hornet buzzing into a megaphone. I have never heard ANY Ford V6 (save for the 4.9 300ci six) sound even remotely what I would call deep and aggressive. If you want to just aim for loud, just go with the glasspack and lose the flowmaster entirely. Just be aware that most people are going to be looking around for some kid in a Hyundai with a six foot wing on the trunk lid

Gunny is right, you have a V6 with single exhaust...it is never going to sound like a V8. The best you could do would be very expensive and involve putting headers on it and making it a true dual exhaust. For the price of all that you could probably go to the junkyard and get a V8.

LMAO. Major advice huh? Okay... Only spend the $$ as such for an exhaust on a V8. I mean com-on, you put all that on a 3.0L V6, it makes as much sense as the people that put dual exhaust on their V6 ford Mustang
