How do you feel driving your 4th gen. Mustang when you come across a 5th gen. Mustang?
-
I am an owner of a vibrant red 2004 Mustang V6, just the base model. There isn't a single thing wrong with it--absolutely beautiful. But whenever I am driving around town and come across one of the newer Mustangs (5th gen) I sort of feel...embarrassed in a way. Like as if the driver of the 5th gen. is like "What an ugly car/mine looks better/mine is newer/etc." So I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same or exactly how do some you feel? I don't care what YOU think of Mustangs/Ford in general. Just answer the question if you drive a mustang.

Answer:
Fex, Actually, your 4th gen stang has a thing or two on the 5th gen. Especially the first few years of the 5th. Their interior quality was sub par, your Ford is not as cheap looking inside. Ford did not get the 5th right until the last couple of years.

As the owner of a 2004 Mustang GT convertible I have to say that I think the owners of the newer Mustangs are envious. There are a ton of new Mustangs on the road and the New Edge body style is so much meaner looking. I love the fact that mine is smaller and lighter, plus I have a custom flat black paint job on the hood that looks incredible with the Silver paint. Be proud of what you have and know that many people are envious of your Mustang. Enjoy and customize yours to make it exactly what you want.

To be honest I would rather have an 80s fox body with $20,000 dropped into the motor rather than spending $35,000 on a new Gt.

Working at a ford dealer I see them everyday. I really like the first years of the 5th gen because of the crisper lines, only thing I dont like is the 4.6 engine. Bud had a 07 stage 3 with bolt ons and gears and tune and he would run neck and neck with my fox and that only made 360 RWP. Throw the new 5.0 in it and It would be my dream car. Your year cars are a well sorted out platform, even though heavy compared to a fox the interior and body style is a little more crisper than the SN95 style. I would take a 03/4 corbra for sure though. I personally own 2 foxbodies, one drag car and street/strip car. When I see them it dont bother me because even though my cars have Nintendo esque interior they are light and can hold their own. Yes its a dated platform but its a well sorted out platform to make power. Realize though that the new 5.0 is killer especially with the blower package but they cost around 35 40K...Thats a good chunk of change to "feel" cool.

I don't know exactly since I have two first gen.s and a third gen. I'm never embarrassed about driving any of them. If I was, I'd get rid of them. When I see other Mustang's, it's like "Hey, there's another Mustang". Not better, not worse, just another one. Some are cooler than others sure, and like everbody else I like some better than others. But they never made a Mustang I would be embarrassed to drive. Even one of those 1974 Pinto-engined ones.

I drive a 2002 V6 that's silver and absolutely gorgeous. When I pull up next to a 5th generation Mustang I think "Wow my car blows that car away. Mine's way better looking." Unless it's a Shelby or a Roush or a Saleen or something. I prefer the 99-04 body style. Not a fan of the 2005-2009, too straight and flat and boxy looking but I do admit that the 2010-present are pretty sweet looking. The only time I feel embarrassed of my car is when I pull up next to a 99-04 GT, Cobra or when I go to my boyfriend's brother's house (he owns a 2002 Saleen that's absolutely stunning).

I would feel sub par driving a known "sports car" with a V6. Sorry bud time to start thinking big if you wanna run with the big boys :) It took me some time to actually start liking the SN95s. I do like them though.... Kind of. The SN195 look pretty bad ***. But I'd f*ck em up in my 89 coupe. Note: be respectable and don't put a loud exhaust, or go duel in your v6 because then you would look like a fool. Special note: I would drive your car. It sounds pretty nice but yeah I would probably slide low if I heard the rumble comming...
