How do you lock and unlock msn?

Door won't lock/unlock using manual button or electric door lock?

  • i have a 2003 chevy impala i just bought like 2 months ago it has 90,000 miles and the remoteand locks were all working fine until today i clicked the unlock and lock buttons on the remote and they wouldnt work and then i tried locking the car from the inside by clicking the lock button/unlock and those didnt work either.... but wen i click the lock button on my remote the lights flash like they are suppost to but it doesnt lock the doors it just puts the alarm because i open the doors which are suppost to lock wen i press it and the alarm goes off so can anyone help me on why the all four doors wont lock witht he remote or the inside buttons because the inside buttons dont work at all now for the doors only the window ones work fine

    Maybe asking your question in the Chevrolet section would bring in more responses, this one is for Fords but... On most cars your problem sounds a lot like the actuators are bad. However if all the locks stopped responding to the button and remote at the same time its more likely that you have a bad switch or electrical connection as its not likely they would all go bad at one time, unless... If you have kids and one of them took the time to hold down the lock button for an extended period of time it could have tripped an overload component of the actuators causing them all to quit at the same time. If that's the case on most cars they're not repairable and will have to be replaced, on others it is possible to replace the overload component.
