How do you repair a leaky gas line on a 98 Sunfire 2.2?

How to take a gas line off of a 89 mustang(NOT TALKING ABOUT THE "C" SHAPED CLIPS)?

  • okay, so its a diffrent gas line i've never sceen before.. the gas line is in two spots. one line is connected to the gas tank to the gas line. and the other gas line is connected in the engine connecting the gas line that goes to the gas tank and the other side of the connection is it to the carberator line.. the gas removal tool won't work for it.. and its not one of those lines where you just pull off. it has a weird connection to it. it looks like its crimped or something weird. rubber gas line thats about 3 to 4 feet long, but when you pull it. it exposed the connection.. the line slides but won't come off obviously. any answers would be helpful

  • Answer:

If it's like most Fords, it takes a special tool. Go to any parts store , tell them what you are doing and they will know which tool. It's round with a hole in the middle and a slit so you can place it around the small side if the fuel line. Push it into the large round part and pull the lines apart. It may help to spray some WD-40 in the connection.

its called a banjo bolt. its nothing crazy actually, and just for learning purposes the term crimmped may not apply rather swedged would be the most correct term, all it is for removal is to removed the bolt thats keeping the hose attached, it may look like a wedding band with a pipe around it.
