How do i make my 1998 ford ranger sound good?

1998 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6?

  • I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 4 wheel drive and the 4 wheel drive is the thing i am having problems with. OK, I start the truck, turn the nob to 4WD LOW and let it sit for roughly 45 seconds, because i herd it could take that long for it to lock in and then i was in a little mud hole and neither one of the front tires spun. The 4WD light comes on and DOES NOT FLASH, and i can hear the shaft lock in, and i was hanging out of the truck looking at the front shaft and the axles to the front tires and they all were spinning but when i gave it some gas the front tires did not spin at all. I was just wondering what could be the problem with it, also this weekend i just replaced the passenger side bearing and axle shaft.     GAS GUZZLER! PROBLEM FORD FIXED IT ONE YEAR LATER COMPUTER BOARD NOT ACTING TO RESPONSE PC BOARD HAS TO BE REPLACED.. AND FORD MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE TRY EBAY OR WHITAKER. BEST

I don't remember if the hubs are vacumm locked or the shaft locks in from underneath Put it in neutral to put it in four low and it should shift within 30 seconds normally if it sees no speed signal and brake lights on... you will hear the reduction gear kick in I'm suspecting but not the axle itself... But have found seals leaking on hub vac locks , motor being bad on those that lock the shaft or the rod that connects internally being shattered.... basically get a book on how the 4wd locks on those and make sure it pulses the vaccum when shifted with vehicle jacked up (will suck for only about 30 seconds... no suck , no locking
