What is better to buy: Ford or Nissan?

Would be a good choice to buy a Ford Ranger instead a Nissan Pickup?

I would like to buy a pickup Ford Ranger ExtraCab (1992-1996), but some people say that the performance of this vehicle is poor because often requires to be repared (brakes down easily)... They say a Nissan KingCab would be a better choice, because the cheaper maintence and almost never brakes down. What is your opinion?
