00 7.3L powerstroke problems?
-
I have a 2000 Ford F250 ext cab long box 4x4 and im having some mechanical difficulties and i was hoping this forum could point me in the right direction. First thing first, fix the problem i dont know what it is. My service engine soon light stays on and it sputters as i am accellerating and when i hit 40mph and it goes into overdrive it runs extremely rough and almost feels like im driving over train tracks. It is especially worse in 4x4. My truck has 251k, custom huckstorf stg 6 tranny, 4in turbo back exhaust, ts 6-pos chip. When i turn the chip up it doesnt run as rough accellerating but at 40mph it runs rougher. I heard somethings about IBN or IBM censors under the valve covers, if thats what you think it is, can someone give me step by step instructions on how to get at it? The other problem i have is i need to change all the front seals. Timing case seal, wear seal... ect ect. It is leaking quite a bit of oil from the front end. I just need to know how to change all those seals in the front. I bought the a timing case seal set that came with like 8 different seals that need to be changed. Can someone please get me step by step instructions on how to change the front seals? The seal set i purchased was a timing cover seal set. I dont have the box with all the names off hand. Thank you for reading my post.

Answer:
As far as the issue with it running...when is the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Ford service manuals say to replace the filter every 10,000 miles. A former employer of mine had a 97 7.3 that had the same symptoms and a new filter took care of the issue.

its the carburetor it needs rebuilding and so does the transmission new gaskets and your burning a lot of oil plus you got water in the engine components and someone might have put sugar in your gas tank

Really?.... carburetor? This is a diesel...they don't have tampons on them. There is no IBM or IBM sensor under the valve covers...there are no sensors under the valve cover. There is a UVCH (under valve cover harness) that can cause similar issues if its burnt or lose. You might have been talking about the UseNET (injectors driver module). It's located behind the driver side fender well. It too can cause those symptoms. First thing I would do is have the code pulled. And the train track issue sounds like some in your drive train...front axle needle bearings. Man you got a lot of work to do if it is all of this. Either that or make your wallet get skinny...which it will just from parts. Join thedieselstop.com for further assistance as you get deeper into this money pit. Good luck
