Why does the performance differ so greatly with seemingly the same code?

How do i know if my 1967 mustang is a K-Code (high performance)?

  • i have a 1967 289 mustang and i have no idea if my engine is a k-code or not. and to tell the truth im not sure how to tell if it is or not. so will someone please help me. how do i know if my car is high performance or not

    The fifth digit in the vin (left inner fender) tells it all: C plain jane 289 two barrel 200hp A four barrel option 210hp K solid cam, screw in stud, 4 bbl, 271hp HI-PO 289. VERY RARE!! If it doesn't have any GT markings, I would SERIOUSLY doubt it was a K code based on that alone.

http://www.trophymustang.com/vin-decoder-p-6896.html this site will help you out there was 1.7million mustangs made from 1964-1/2 to 1967 and only 13,231 was K-code car's on the left side of the motor in the front of the motor next to the head has a number stamped on it if this is a ture K-code motor the number will have a K stamped in this number. if you do have a real K-code motor you just hit the jack pot as that motor will bring you more then $15,000.oo as the heads go for over $10,000.oo and the crank will go for $4,000.oo, and if this is in the right car, even in not so good shape the car is worth more then $20,000.oo, and in good shape $40,000.oo to $60,000.oo and in show room shape $100,000.oo or more. get me the numbers on the motor and i can tell you just want to have, send me pic's of inside and out and ill tell you just about how much its worth.
