What is the tire size for a 1969 Mustang Mach 1?

1969 mustang?

  • can anyone tell me the difference between a 69 boss 302 & the 69 mach one mustangs besides the engine size differences.

  • Answer:

The BOSS 302 Mustang was set up for road racing right off the show room floor. The Mach I essentially replaced the GT option (which if you can find a '69 GT they are ultra rare). One dead give away for the 69 BOSS was that Shinoda put the 1970 quarter panels on the BOSS, the Mach I had the standard "side scoop" quarter panels.

All 69 and 70 bosses came with a 4 speed. The 69 mach ones had a side scoop just behind the doors, the boss did not.

The Boss 302 Mustang is based on the Trans Am Racing series car. Manufacturers had to to produce 500 cars a year in order to prove they were factory built before they could race a car in the series. So Ford produced a minimum of 500 cars a year to replicate the Boss 302. All Boss 302's had special suspension 4 spd trans and markings and of course the special Boss 302 engine. The largest engine allowed in the Trans Am series was a 302 cubic inch. Chevy had the Z28 Camaro which was a 302 engine also which was their Trans Am racer. Mercury had the Cougars running in early 67 68 but the Mustang took over in 1969 and 1970 with the Boss 302. The Mach I was another platform of the standard Mustang and included many options such as 302 all the way up to a 429. They came with what ever options you wanted where the Boss 302 had only limited options. The Mach I could be fully loaded from top to bottom including power seat, ac, and auto. It was mainly a dress up package, and a good looking one at that. The Boss 302 is only 1969-70 the Mach I is from 1969 to around 1975 in the Mustang II.
