The new Mustang GTs come with 235/50-18 tires, what is the widest size I can fit on the stock rims?
-
The stock tires on the Mustang GT are a joke. I want to know if I can fit the same size tires as the GT500, which are 255/45-18 in the front and 285/40-18 in the rear on the stock rims, or will I have to upgrade to wider rims as well.

Answer:
255 are the widest...within the safe limit. Any wider and you'll have that ugly bulge hanging over the rim! You'll need a 10'' wide rim for widths around the 295 tire, which look perfect on our stangs.

245 are probably the best option even though a 255 should fit. only thing you would have to worry about is pressure. If you drive too aggressively with 255 you could run the risk of popping off the bead.
