What was the helicopter used in the tv show Airwolf?

Is a car worth more because it was used on TV?

  • I'm thinking of buying my friend's car. Its a 1986 Ford Tempo GLS with 250,000 miles. He says he recently changed the air filter and had the muffler serviced. Blue book says the car is worth $300 to a private seller but my friend claims that the car is a collector's item because it appeared on several episodes of the 1980's show Airwolf. He even is throwing in a framed picture of the car racing at 100+ mph while Airwolf was flying overhead (If I do buy the car I want to find Jan Michael Vincet to autograph). He says that $15,000 is a fair price given the cars history and the fact that Ford Tempo's have a cult following and are really hard to find. This will be my first car and I'm not very experienced with mechanics. I want to buy something original but don't want a lemon. Is this a good deal? Assuming I do buy the car what are some common maintenance areas I should be aware of. I wouldn't want to change anything original but want to keep it running for another 250,000 miles. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Tell him you better get the helicopter for that price. One key note: Used cars aren't lemons. By definition, lemon car only applies to new vehicles. Otherwise, at that price, he's no friend of yours. Simply ridiculous. Cult following? In what world? It's a Tempo. No one cares. Try Googling "tempo airwolf". I've been searching for a while now, don't even see mention of the car.

I find it hard to believe that a Ford Tempo got up to 50 MPH, let alone 100+. $300 is a fair price. If he thinks it's worth something more, he should sell it on Ebay to a collector.

I don't know where this guy is from, but the car is as common as dirt. Too much money for an undocumented car. Buy this and you are going to regret it big time.

Old-guy64

well if it's knight rider sure it's worth more, haha

$15,000 for a 86 Ford Tempo laugh in his face and find another car.

even with the tv history and it very good shape, it wouldn't be worth more than $3k to $5k and it would need physical proof..

86 tempo with 250,000 $300 is a little steep . The fact that it apeared in airwolf isn't gonna help it much and heres why 1. it's not airwolf It was a helicopter not a tempo 2. it's not the Batmobile . 3, it's not KITT 4. It's not The General Lee . 5 It's a crappy Ford Tempo with 250,000 miles on it 6. It's not Starsky and Hutchs Torino 7. It's not Hard Castle and Mccormics Coyote 8. It's not Magnums 308 gts 9 . Not the Fall guys Blue Truck . 10 . Not the Ateams van . 11. It's a crappy Tempo Don't buy a crappy Tempo because someone collected it After driving it for 250,000 . Even with the picture and signatue the women your age just won't see past it being a 86 Tempo that has 250,000 on it .
