How to disable alarm on 1997 F150?

Can I disable a factory alarm on a 1997 ford f150?

  • My factory alarm ststem on my 1997 f150 has a mind of its own, going off randomly.... I have learned that when I lock the door I do it manually, so not to set the alarm. I do not have the key pad to stop the alarm when it goes off, I usually disconnect the battery. BUT it went off this morning and I can not shut it off, I can stop it by unhooking the battery but it starts back when reconnected, I do not care about this alarm, is there a way I can just disconnect it? I could use some avice, thanks-Lee

I typed " 87 ford factory alarm problems? " in the websearch box and found several promising hits on the results page one of the links "allexperts.com 97 ford factory alarm" (type that in the web search box) talked about locking the doors manually and then using the key to unlock the drivers door. This is supposed to disable the factory alarm. dont know if you tried this yet but there is a whole lot of links to a lot of fords and you need to start doing the research and hope something works if unlocking the door with the key does not fix your problem. good luck.

Goto ur local DIY store n buy a bolster hammer then clobber it immensely.. if not, try hanging upside down like a bat in a busy public place, it worked for me

Alarms have become very clever in the past 20 years, an easy way to stop an alarm is to disconnect the siren breifly but to be honest with you most car have a fail safe which is starting the car ignition to remove the imobilsa and alarm function. Other than this i cannot be much help because alot of factory alarms are built into the car electronic systems to stop them being disabled, the idea is if you disable the alaram you actually disable the car aswell. As for disconnecting the battery this occurs due to alarms being solid state, it is basically a switch, as soon as reconnecting the switch is still in the on position. To progress further i would suggest a computer diagnostics test to assess the system or perhaps ordering a new key and transponder from the manufacturer. ( being in america i do not know estimated prices, but in britain this would cost approx £50)
