Ok, being a car guy, I'm not really sure why you are trying to upgrade the car if you AREN'T a car guy...I would think you would be better served spending those thousands of dollars on something you already enjoy? The reason I say that, is this: A decent exhaust: $500. Decent Headers: $700+ H or X midpipe with converters: $400 Cold Air Intake: $200-250 Gears (and everything needed to install them): $350-400 Short throw shifter (if it's a manual): $180 Programmer: $375 As you can see, just from this short list, which would gain you roughly 30whp, give or take, would cost you $2700 on the cheap side, $2800 or more on the higher end, and that's just for the parts. Sure, the gears and power will make a significant difference in acceleration, but if you aren't a gearhead and aren't going to be racing it, isn't there something else you'd rather spend the money on? Now, if you throw installation of these parts in... Exhaust + midpipe: $150 Headers: $500+ Gears: $500-600 Short Throw shifter: $75 and you can install your own CAI. So now you can throw in another $1225, bringing the total up to over $4000. As for a supercharger, a basic Vortech non-aftercooled system is about $3500, the aftercooled system is $4500, plus injectors ($350), tuner is required ($375), custom tuning is best for both power and reliability ($500), and then installation would run about $1500, give or take. My suggestion would be to just drive the car and enjoy it. And THEN, if you just want a better sounding exhaust just to have a better sounding exhaust, do that. Or maybe you take it to the dragstrip once and get hooked, then spend your money. But for now, just enjoy your car the way you want to, and take care of it with regular service. Modifications usually make a car less reliable, always if they aren't done correctly.
