Can you get the Hydra-Matic Six-Speed Automatic Transmission on the 5.3L?

Where can I get a rebuilt transmission for a 99 ford taurus SE V6?

  • My car slipping really bad. I tried lucus but it doesn't work for that long. I think I need a transmission. I'm going to get a full diagonse next week to make sure. But from the sound of it I might need one and need to know where and how much its going to be. please dont tell me to buy another car cause at the moment that not an option. i need addresses phone number of places and prices. also websites. i tried looking and couldn't find anything. i want the best of the best. i live in maryland in aberdeen. PLease someone help me! Edition info bout car -just changed the oil -transmission fluid is good (not leaking) -it only slips on 20 miles an hour but use to on 40miles an hour, idk why -needs new brakes -it drives -it jerks when on low gear im guessing when changing gear without lucus in it -i havn't check the anti-freeze, could that be doing something? -tone up gonna do any good? -took it to autozone says transmission failure, transmission slippage, clutch(which is tech the transmission) is bad or something -check engine light is on

    in addition to the above answer, i have a customer who had a similer situation and problem. after full diagnosis i determined that the transmission was indeed shot so i priced a replacement from several sources including used from a junkyard. the remanufactured unit from ford was only a few dollars more than a fly by nights rebuilt and comes with a decent warrenty, good nation-wide at any ford dealership even though we are not a ford dealer doing the install.

1. Get the full diagnosis 2. You have to think about a different car (used). Remember that you will get $500 (at least) for your Taurus. 3. You could get lucky and have a simple fix for the transmission. 4. Ask for the "diagnostic trouble codes" (DTC numbers) that are being indicated and repost here with that information.
