What is better to buy: Ford or Nissan?

Would be a good choice to buy a Ford Ranger instead a Nissan Pickup?

  • I would like to buy a pickup Ford Ranger ExtraCab (1992-1996), but some people say that the performance of this vehicle is poor because often requires to be repared (brakes down easily)... They say a Nissan KingCab would be a better choice, because the cheaper maintence and almost never brakes down. What is your opinion?

  • Answer:

I have a 2001 Ranger with 118,000 miles. I have never (*knock on wood*) had it in the shop. Ford makes awesome trucks. But i'm sure the 92-96 is a little different from a 2001. I never owned a foreign vehicle so i can't help ya there.

THE FORD RANGER HAS HAD FOME FUEL PUMP AND EMISSION ISSUES DIFFERENCE IS, MOST ALL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FROM AFTERMARKET SOURCES AS OPPOSED TO THE NISSAN WHICH IS MANY TIMES LIMITED TO THE DEALERSHIPS $$$$$$$$$ WE HAVE 35 TRUCKS WHERE I WORK A COUPLE TOYOTAS, NISSANS AND MAZDAS WE STARTED GOING STRICTLY WITH THE RANGERS ANY TRUCK WILL WEAR OUT BRAKES AND SHOCKS AND NEED TUNE UPS IT IS THE OTHER STUFF THAT GETS YOU ON THE IMPORTS WE HAVE FOUND THAT THE OVERALL COST OF REPAIRS ON THE FORDS TO BE LESS DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE CAN EASILY GET PARTS THESE TRUCKS ARE DRIVEN HARD ALL DAY AS DELIVERY TRUCKS FOR AN AUTOOMOTIVE PARTS SUPPLY WAREHOUSE ALL IN TOWN TRAFFIC SINCE YOU WILL NOT BE DRIVING LIKE THAT I BET YOUR FORD WOULD LAST YOU QUITE WELL I WOULD BE HAPPIER WITH THE 3.0 OR 4.0 ENGINES THAN THE LITTLE 2.3 4 POPPER

I think Ford has the advantage between those two. The cost of parts are less, Mazda and Ford share parts on the ranger. Nissan may be good too, but Look at all the Fords out there!

Not sure about that particular year but I have a '96 B2300/Ranger that has 160,000 miles and runs like a top. Mind you it's very minimalist. The only option it has is A/C. It doesn't even have power steering. I love it!

we have a ford ranger and it's still going strong even though my husband doesn't change the oil like he should. but with every vehicle there are good ones and there are lemons.

i think you waste alot of time trying to decide because you are always concerned about what others may think....get a life!!! that's my opinion!

who ever said Nissan is better than ford is the most stupid person in the world so never listen to that person again. Ask her or him if that person meaned other way around

Sweet guy

I had a 1992 ranger and I drove it 180k and still had the original clutch and never had major repairs except for a new timing belt installed. The 2.3 4 cylinder is a bit low on power, but gets the job done. If you get a 4Liter V6 model, you'll have power to spare. Note that the 1992 model is an older body style and they were redesigned in 1993.
