you could get a nice used motor and it would cost between 300-800$ they are not complete crap, some are. but most come o9u of smashed vehicles that are completle y fine, and if was rebuilt its most likely fine, or you caould pay between 1200-3000$ (if you getting something like a 360 or 383.)

A used engine would be a waste of $$; rebuilt motors will vary in price according to what shop does the work, the warranty offered, etc - expect to pay at least $ 1500 for a rebuilt engine with installation ( and more if it is a diesel engine )
