Dodge Stealth?

92-95 Corvette LT-1 motor in a 91-99 Dodge Stealth?

  • I was told that it was possible and relatively easy to put an LT-1 'Vette motor into a Dodge Stealth. I'm looking at buying a Dodge Stealth shell, but what engine should I get for it? What is the best bang for the buck?? Is the LT-1 even possible, and if so, since it's got lots of hp and ft lb of torque, is it highly modifiable or is all the compartment room eaten up by the block?? Thanks much for your help!!

  • Answer:

Can it be done? Absolutely. We have the technology to put an engine out of an F15 in a car. It definitely can be done. Now, the next question, WHY?? While it is possible, it is not practical, economically, or even desirable to do so. You would be reinventing the wheel. The computer problems alone would be a nightmare. Maintenance and upkeep would drive you crazy. Weight distributions could come into play and the Performance would likely be less than either the Corvette or the Dodge. Just a bad idea from the get go. I have seen dozens of projects similar to this and they always end with the folks attempting to do these things broke, mad at each other, and the project out in the back yard in piles of different pieces that eventually get sold for junk. Don't do it.

No, that would be kinda redneck in my opinion. Keep it all Mopar. Are you gonna convert it to RWD or have a R/T AWD setup? If you wanna swap a V8, go with a 360 small block (either carb'd or fuel injected). You can get over 400 horsepower and torque pretty easy from a 360. Edit: The LT-1 engine don't have turbos though. You can get tons of power out of a naturally aspirated V8 and much cheaper then a turbo motor. A Stealth 3.0 twin turbo V6 would go in there easier, but who knows where to find one! I think an AWD V8 Stealth would be awesome! With a 5.9 liter V8, you don't really need forced induction for power unless you want tons of it. You could build a 360 V8 with a centrifugal supercharger, which would be easier then turbos.
