Where is the crankshaft position sensor located on a 2002 dodge intrepid?

Where is the crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor) located on a 2005 dodge neon?

  • This book I have is garbage. It told me to remove the structural collar and then remove the electrical connection and then take off the mounting bolt. So, after i get this "structural collar" off I find that there is nothing there but some bolts and an oil pan. So I look at the picture the book gives which is fuzzy at best to find a CKP sensor above the oil filter(not hidden by the "structural collar"). So I look there and do some research to find out thats where they put them on neons that were 2002 and earlier. Has anyone ever replaced the crankshaft position sensor on a 2003 or later dodge neon and can tell me where to find it? any help is greatly appreciated. Its my mothers car and I want to get this check engine light to shut off so she can stop freaking out.

  • Answer:

it mounts in to the bell housing on it right back on the transmission, its kind of out of sight but you can find it because there's a small wiring harness going to it,if your looking at the transmission its in between the first and the second bolt down on the bell housing you,ll see a sensor and that's the one your looking for, going towards the fire wall on it,good luck.

a 2.0L and 2.4L have it located in front underneath where the starter mounts, it is only hard to get on the SRT 2.4L when a smaller cooler hose must be disconnected so the steel line can be positioned out of the way. IT should be installed carefully, if it comes with a small spacer use it. it adjusts its position to magnetically sense crank revolutions using a 5 volt source from the PCM. ok good luck. It used to always mount on the transmission so it could sense the flywheel or torque converter. 10mm bolt heads.
