Sohc engine into dohc engine?

can i take a sohc engine and turn it into a dohc engine without a lot of work

its not as bad as it sounds to do ,you do have to change the computer and the wiring harness in it though and without a parts car to work with its going to cost,i did it on my car but i went out and found one with a bad engine just to get the wiring harness and all the other parts i needed,its a lot of work though,if you got the time and something else to drive you can do it real easy in a good week end,good luck.

it's a pretty good amount of work. I'm assuming you have a small, probably import, motor. First, you'd have to switch heads to a DOHC head, make sure that your valves will still clear the pistons at top dead center, you'll have to get a new timing belt, and possibly a new gear for the end of the crank, and you'll have to have a professional reprogram your computer, or possibly order a computer for a DOHC engine. Long story short, it would be cheaper and easier just to find a DOHC motor to put in it.
