What is a self tailing winch?

03 Dodge Durango V8 vs Ford F150 V6?

  • ok i have a little of a dilemma here, hope you can help. i had a 2006 ford f150 V6,5speed witha 4.2 engine.towing pkg. and believe it or not i tow cars as Hobie, and to make some extra cash, so i don't tow everyday or nothing like that. i might get to tow two car in a month or so. well i needed money so i sold the f150 so i bough me an 2003 Dodge durango sxt, towing pks as well this is a V8 with a 4.7 magnum engine. now my thing is as i was taking to my uncle he said i should stop towing cars because the durango wont take it and it most likely brake down on me. the durango gears as 3.55 same as the ford. is this true? now with the ford i did had a lot of power loss but never let me down. please some advise. now back to the trailer that i am pulling. the trailer it self weights around 1600 lb so with any given car i would say 5000(that's including my ramps chains that i have and my winch) so is this too much for a durango to handle. is my uncle right.? i dont know?

  • Answer:

Your uncle is smokin' something. The Durango has way more power and towing capability than a ford with a 4.2. zxc090

The 4.7 has killer off-idle grunt, and tows car great in dakota and durango. Had em both and the 4.7 was great. And spark plugs WAYYYY easier to change than an f150 with 4.6 v-8.
